Internship Program SummaryInternships may be geared toward specific interests or class credit requirements. Interns will have contact with members of the Ocala/Marion County business community as well as the general public. Interns will also assist the organization team with day-to-day duties, such as answering phones and helping with tourism inquires. Interns will have access to a workstation which includes computer, intern email address and phone. Internship opportunities at the Chamber are unpaid. Chamber office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Some events and programs are held outside of normal business hours. OpportunitiesSpecial Events & Development: Depending on the time of year, projects could include special events such as Business After Hours, Golf Classic, Annual Dinner, and/or Business Expo and a ten-week Chamber Resource Development Fundraising Campaign. Leadership Programs: The Chamber’s Leadership Programs include a young professionals group (ELO), an introduction to the equine industry for business executives (The Windfall Group), and three Leadership Ocala/Marion programs for three age groups (Adult, seniors, youth). Interns will have an opportunity to support program sessions and special events. Communications/Marketing: The Chamber’s communications include website, electronic weekly email, electronic newsletter and printed member directory. Interns may have an opportunity to participate in branding/marketing planning and implementation projects and media relations. Government/Community: The Chamber works with state and local officials as well as community organizations to promote business interests and improve quality of life. Interns have the opportunity to participate in environmental issues, government issues and various legislative event planning/implementation. Administrative/General Office: Assist staff with office/clerical duties including answering phones, making copies, preparing mailings, organization of files or supplies and other related projects. Very flexible hours and shifts. Basic computer skills needed, willing to train motiviated individuals. Minimum requirementsIntern candidates should have strong oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience with Publisher (desktop publishing/graphic design) and PowerPoint a plus. Excellent customer service skills; superior time management skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team required. To applyClick here to download an application.
